Muirna originally went into Physiotherapy thinking she would be working in the sporting arena! However, she quickly found her love and passion for Physiotherapy with helping men, women and children with pelvic floor dysfunction.
Muirna experienced the isolation and embarrassment of pelvic pain and pelvic floor muscle dysfunction firsthand which furthermore drove her thirst and passion for the area and led to further education. She went from running the Boston and Dublin Marathon to not being able to walk or work without pain. She experienced the frustration associated with the lack of resources available to women in situations she found herself in. Her healing journey led her to India to complete her Yoga Instructor training where she learnt about the connection between our body and mind, hip and pelvis and the power we have inside all of us to heal pain and muscle dysfunction. From India then to Australia, Muirna went on to complete the prestigious Masters in Women’s Health and Continence in Curtin University Perth to broaden her knowledge of pelvic floor dysfunction in Men, Women and Children. Through this long journey, over 10 years clinical experience and helping thousands with pelvic floor dysfunction she grew increasingly frustrated with the lack of evidence based resources to support her patients with reliable information online. She could see the value of face to face Physiotherapy but also appreciated that Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy is a privilege in that it is expensive and not always readily available to those worldwide and in rural communities. That was where The Pelvic Physio Online was born!
Through The Pelvic Physio Online, Muirna’s mission is to empower women with knowledge to help prevent, treat and heal pelvic floor dysfunction in the wider community and the world! The Pelvic Physio Online provides affordable, quality and fun content to help you live your life free of pelvic floor dysfunction and support women in having a better pregnancy, delivery and recovery.
